Like M3U files, M3U8 files are playlist files. Numerous different media player programmes can use them. The playlist file format is the same as for M3U files, however M3U8 files use the character encoding standard UTF-8. As a result, M3U8 playlists are better suited to storing playlists that include music with titles written in several languages using various character sets.
The only technical distinction between M3U and M3U8 files is the character encoding employed. Although M3U files are more well known for employing various standards, they may also use UTF-8. UTF-8 is used directly by M3U8. Information regarding the placement of songs in a playlist is contained in the plain text file.
